Could we get a list going of people interested in work as biweekly garden helpers? And set a pay level?

Hi Jane -
You have hit upon something that ties in with a upcoming project at HPSO. In 2021, we are hoping to develop a business directory that will be available via the HPSO website. Some volunteers are already working on that project. We will be sure to include garden helpers as a category in that directory. The questions that are starting to pop up in the Products, Resources & Services Forum will help guide us in shaping the business directory.
In the meantime, we hope you will sympathize with our goal to keep the Community Forum free of advertising. We want the Community Forum to be a place for sharing lots of information, and service providers are encouraged to answer questions in their area of expertise or service. But, we have set up the guidelines to discourage self promotion and spam so that Forum participants won't feel like they are getting hit with unsolicited advertisements.
Barb serves as HPSO President, and she has a small urban garden in NE Portland.

Hi all,
I am a gardener and am very fortunate to work for several HPSO members (for the last 8 yrs) and quite a few for a designer (Not sure if I should mention her name on the forum). You can send me an email - [email protected] and Barb also knows how to get ahold of me.

By the way I love this forum- thank you to whomever set it up!
Happy Gardening!
Need a gardener? That would be me!
Excellent references!

Hi Barb,

How is that directory coming? It's a great idea.

I am really interested in finding someone to help take care of my scatter and who LOVES plants and KNOWS plants. I don't want someone that will "mow, blow and go" as I don't have a lawn. Haha. I have had people that work hard and do a good job, but sometimes it hard to communicate and they may need constant supervision to not turn everything into a ball. Haha.

I am getting to the point where "the mind is willing but the back is weak".

I know there are great people out there but finding the right person is, for me, a daunting prospect.

I was a Washington County Master Gardner about 20 years ago, but have lost so much over time that I feel I can no longer call myself one.

Thank you so much for listening.

Gus

I agree, Gus. It is this time of year when the weeds go crazy, that I feel I just can't keep up. It would be nice to just have someone weed and get the beds cleaned up as we go into summer. I enjoy the garden so much more when I don't have to think about all of the weeds, as I sit there with my cold beverage and a book!

At this point, I don't think there is any work going on in setting up this directory. Hopefully, we can start tackling this in the fall.
