Grants Awarded in 2014

Grout Elementary School Edible Garden: 
The school garden will use the produce grown for school lunches and to teach nutrition in the classroom.   

Sauvie Island Elementary School Native Plant Habitat Expansion: 
This "outdoor classroom" expansion will integrate math and science curriculum with the native plant habitat surrounding the school building.

Abernethy Elementary School Garden of Wonders: 
This program will introduce gardening as a component of problem solving and learning in the science and math classrooms.

Rose Community Development Caring Hearts, Helping Hands Project: 
An inter-generational gardening project to bring together senior residents and after school youth.

Polk County Master Gardeners Inspiration Garden at Fir Park:  
The Master Gardeners will develop and maintain a Demonstration garden for sustainable gardening and community education open to the community. 

Naturescaping of SW Washington: 
An Educational Kiosk will provide materials for the public regarding native plants and pollinators.

Washington County Master Gardeners Learning Garden at Jenkins Estate: 
This Outdoor Garden will be a classroom for school groups during the summer and for schools with no onsite school garden during the school year.

Friends of Zenger Farm Hedgerow Installation: 
The hedgerow will be a protective border on the farm to improve the wildlife habitat space.

NWNW-Linnton Neighborhood Association: 
Ma Olsen's Garden Road frontage will be planted with natives in a space used by the community in honor of a long-time resident.

Sellwood Moreland Improvement League Oaks Bottom Overlook Project: 
Plantings and educational signage at the top of bluffs overlooking the wildlife refuge will be for school groups nearby and community members.

Oregon Child Development Coalition Garden Project at the Enterprise Center: 
This garden project which targets the children of migrant, seasonal, and Head Start families will include raised beds, worm bins, and composting areas.

Lincoln Elementary School (Corvallis) Everybody's Garden: 
This garden will include tabletop garden beds and vertical garden beds as well as bilingual educational signage.  The garden will be integrated into the Life Skills classroom curriculum.
